Cream Cheese Stuffed French Toast W/Strawberries and Whip Cream Recipe
We decided to attempt making our own version of IHOP's stuffed French toast because we adore it so much. This is quite tasty.
ingredients
·
1loaf
pepperidge farm cinnamon-swirl bread (14 slices)
·
3eggs
·
1tablespoon sugar
·
1teaspoon vanilla
·
powdered
sugar (a little for dusting top of fried sandwiches)
·
1(16 ounce) carton frozen sliced strawberries in syrup,
thawed (for topping)
·
1(8 ounce) carton frozen Cool Whip, thawed (for topping)
CREAM CHEESE FILLING
· 4 ounces softened cream cheese
· 3 tablespoons butter, softened
·
3⁄4 cup powdered sugar (or more)
· 1⁄2 teaspoon vanilla
Directions
v In a bowl, combine the ingredients for the cream cheese filling, adding enough powdered sugar to make it spreadable, and put aside.
v
Lay out the cinnamon bread pieces, top each with a small amount of cream cheese, and then combine the two to form a "sandwich."
v In a separate dish, whisk together the three eggs, one tablespoon sugar, and one teaspoon vanilla. Dip the sandwiches into the mixture, then cook them in a little amount of heated butter until they are browned on both sides.
v .For this, we utilize the big electric griddle.
v Serve the fried sandwiches with strawberry sauce and whipped cream on top, followed by a sprinkling of powdered sugar.
